I got some questions. I am trying to figure out how much it will take to
finish my Lakes. I have some questions...
I am looking a just a less expensive not show, dope finish.
How many gallons of dope and how much fabric is needed to cover a Lakes?
How much for a good used wood prop?

I am inclined to agree with Arch, but if you must know, then I am going to be at
my house to day (finally) and I still have the receipts from Aircraft Spruce for
all of my covering supplies and the prices should still be pretty current. As far
as the prop goes, you have to firmly decide which engine you want, then get a
prop for that engine.

Hi Mike I don't recall how much fabric I used, but I do recall
ordering the amount that the catalog recomended for a Cub plus enough
to do 2 more Cub wings. Also too much dope can add extra weight and
also crack easier. As for the cost; as my plane was nearing
completion, my wife(she's an accountant) one day mentioned that she
should add up all the receipts to figure the cost. I replied that we
should at least wait until it is finished, she agreed, but hasn't
brought up the subject again since. I guess I dodged a bullet on that
one. I can't imagine spending the equivalent amount on such useless
items to the male sex as new carpet and furnishings for the house etc
when all the old stuff just suits me fine. Sure hope she doesn't
read this LOL. Cam

years...
but then you see that there are things that can be done better, and
you'll find that some small parts which looks simple will need hours
and hourd to be built...
So in this case my small experience makes me say:
"The extimated time to finish it is the time that will be necessary
to"..
or also "the project is 90% completed and .. 90% to go!"
Don't worry how long you will work on your project, but enjoy every
minute!
😉
that's the pleasure and the challenge of being an aircraft
